Paranymfi Heraklion - Koudouma Monastery - Agios Ioannis

One-day mountaineering activity in the south of the prefecture of Heraklion, with easy hiking on a downhill path in the Asterousia mountains, which are synonymous with wildlife and provoke anyone who attempts to discover and view the Libyan Sea from there.

Route: The hiking will start from the village of Paranymfi at an altitude of 515 meters, from which the participants will go down to the hospitable Koudoumas Monastery, which they will visit and from there continue on a coastal path, they will pass through the cave of Agios Antonios to the settlement of Agios Ioannis, below Kapetaniana, where they will return by truck. This route has a 2.5 km dirt road first and then it is on a clear downhill path with some parts of it with small uphill slopes and downhill to Koudoumas Monastery and then flatter until the finish at Agios Ioannis. The duration of the hiking is about 7 to 8 hours and the participants must have a very good physical condition, wear a mountaineering shoe (bootie - ribbon) and have with them a stick, a windproof jacket, a hat, junk food and much water.

It is not recommended for people with intolerance in very hot weather.
