Heraklion - A tour to the Knosos Archaeological Site - Mount Yuchtas, 811 meters

We continue our thematic activities titled "Hiking with Time Travel ...", organizing a one-day trip in the prefecture of Heraklion, where we will visit and tour the Knossos Archaeological Site and then - if the weather is fine - we will ascent to Mount Yuchta, west of Archanes.

Route: In the morning we will visit and tour the Knossos Archaeological Site and then - if the weather is fine - an easy ascent to the "anthropomorphic" mountain of Yuchta, 811 meters, situated west of Archanes, it offers spectacular views. The sacred mountain of Yuchta resembles an elderly male head and is loaded with ancient myths, intertwined with history and religious worship, dating from the Minoan era and reaching Christianity. The hike will start from the trail outside Archanes, which reaches the top, passing through clumps of pine and cypress, between rocks and phrygana. The hike will last approximately 2 hours, participants should be in good condition, wear a hiking shoe (hiking boots) and carry a hiking stick, waterproof jacket, warm clothing and gloves, a hat and chopsticks, junk food and water.
