MINOAN PATH (Kastamonitsa - Vidiani monastery)
Departure 07:00 from Chania with our bus, by road to the village of Kastamonitsa. From this point we will start our hike on a dirt road 3-3.5 km. After there begins the ascent to the Minoan path to the "Tsouli tomb" (2-2.5 hours) and then a dirt road 3 km to reach Vidiani monastery on the Lassithi plateau (total route 10.5 km. about 5-5.5 hours), where we will rest in the monastery and late in the afternoon we will return to the hotel. The night will take place at the Palmera Hotel in the Heraklion Peninsula.
SUNDAY 06/03/2022
TZERMIADO - plateau of NISIMOU - KARFI - SELENA (1,559m.)
On Sunday morning, after serving breakfast, we will drive again to Tzermiado of the Lassithi plateau, from where it will start:
1st option: our hike to climb the plateau of Nissimos (935 m.) On a dirt road (2.5 km) and we will continue on an uphill path (40 minutes-1 hour) to the place Karfi (1130m) archeological place from there will return to Tzermiado (walking time about 3-3.5 hours)
2nd option: our hike to climb the plateau of Nissimos (935 m.) On a dirt road (2.5 km) and we will continue on an uphill path (40 minutes-1 hour) to the place Karfi (1130m) archeological place from there we descend to the plateau of Nissimos
2a) we will move west - northwest, if the snow situation is good and there is not much snow we will climb to the top of Selena (1559m.) And then we will go down to the church of Agios Charalambos and from there to a dirt road (2.5 km) we will reach the asphalt before the village Mesa Potamoi where the bus will take us to Tzermiado to meet the first group (walking time about 7-8 hours)
2b) we will proceed west we will reach the church of Agios Charalambos and from there on a dirt road (2.5 km) we will reach the asphalt before the village Mesa Potamoi where the bus will take us to Tzermiado to meet the first group
(walking time about 5-6 hours). Return early in the afternoon to Hersonissos, where we will spend the night at the same hotel.
MONDAY 07/03/2022
STALIDA-MOCHOS-MALIA
On Monday morning after breakfast hiking is optional whoever wants will board the bus, to go by road to Stalida 8km. From where we will start our hiking on a dirt road and trail (Bulgarian trail) to Mocho we will continue the descent from a trail to Malia (total route 8.5 km. approximately 4.5-5 hours)
At 5:00 p.m. we will board our bus to start our return by road to Chania with a stopover,
* Necessary supplies for the mountain:
-Hat, -Waterproof, -Warm clothes, -Hat and gloves, - food.
* The program is likely to change in part, under the responsibility of the tour leaders, depending on the prevailing weather conditions.
* Stops will be made along the road, which will be determined by the leaders in charge of the excursion.
* Nights will be spent at the Palmera Hotel in doubles and triples with breakfast.
* Smoking on the bus is not allowed.
* Participants must have a team spirit, mountaineering behavior and exemplary cooperation with each other.
Meeting of the participants on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 21:30 in the evening at the offices of the Club.
-During the hikes and along the entire routes, all the health and safety rules and regulations due to Covid-19 will be practiced.
-Face masks are mandatory in the bus and in the ship.
