Route: Program of the activity
Saturday 30/04/2022
-Departure from the offices of the Club at 90, Tzanakaki Street, at 8:00 a.m.
-Arrival in the mountain village of Kefalovrysi at an altitude of 700 m, towards noon, with the necessary stops on the way for a litle rest. Kefalovrysi is located in the southern part of the prefecture of Heraklion, shortly after Viannos.
-Our route to the plateau of Omalos Viannos will start from the entrance of the village (altitude 700 m). Initially we will follow the steep uphill roads of the village and dirt roads that will lead us to the church of Agia Marina with the beautiful spring (altitude 870 m). Then we will walk on an uphill path, in a pine forest up to 1.100 m. altitude, where the slope gradually becomes smoother. Our course will continue to be uphill until 1.400 m, where we will see from above the plateau of Omalos Viannos (1,330 m.) With the seasonal lake and small rivers that have been formed during this season.
-The night will be spent on the edge of the plateau around the church of the Holy Spirit in tents.
(total course ~ 4.5 hours)
.The tents and the heaviest of our supplies (not the whole), will be transferred with the farm of the Association to the plateau.
Sunday 01/05/2022
-On the second day we will cross the plateau of Omalos (1,330 m.) From west to east and we will descend to Kato Symi (770 m.), Passing by the place "Koutelo tou Paradisou", with the unique view!
(total course ~ 3 hours)
-From Kato Symi we will be transferred to Mythos, where anyone can explore the gorge of Sarakina. The length of our path, inside the gorge, will depend on the height of the water that day.
-Anyone interested in the Sarakina gorge should have an extra pair of dry shoes and dry clothes with them so that they can change after the end of the activity.
-The night will take place in the village of Selakano in tents or in the hostel "Pezoulia"
Monday 02/05/2022
-On the third day from Selakano (865 m.) We will ascend to the plateau of Katharos (1,100 m.) Through dirt roads and part of a path.
-After a short stop at the cafes of Katharos we will go to the church of the Holy Cross to descend from the gorge of Havgas to the plateau of Lassithi.
(total course ~ 7 hours)

-During the hike and along the entire route, all the health and safety rules and regulations due to Covid-19 will be practiced.
-Face masks are mandatory in the bus.
