Armeni Rethymno - Vrissina Summit, 858 meters

One day hiking activity to the summit of Vrissinas in the neighboring prefecture of Rethymno, where probably the most important Minoan peak of Western Crete has been located.

Route: The hike will start shortly before the village Armeni of Rethymnon, near the Late Minoan cemetery located in the area and will be on dirt roads and trails, part of the European E4 Trail. The participants will start walking uphill and will soon be split into two groups, one continuing on the top by walking on a dirt road and path, and the other by a steep uphill path reaching the top from the other side. The participants, from the top of Vrysina, which is probably the most important Minoan Sanctuary of Western Crete, and there is the chapel of the Holy Spirit, will have the opportunity to admire the views peripherally to the plain of Rethymnon and all the north coast of it.
The walk will last about 5½ hours, participants must be in good shape, wear a hiking shoe (hiking boot) and carry a hiking stick, waterproof jacket, warm clothing, hat, food and water
