Three-days activity to the south of the prefecture of Heraklio, at the foot of Psiloritis, with hikes around the villages of Gergeri and Zaros.

Route: Saturday 1/3/25
Departure from the Club offices at 10:00 a.m. in the morning in the direction of: Rethymno - Fourfouras - Vorizia (Fourfouras-Vorizia, 26 Km), where we put on our mountaineering clothes and boots and begin our hike on the following route: Vorizia-Trachili-I. Monastery of Agios Antonios Vrontisiou (approximately 4.8 Km, 3-4 hours).
- In the afternoon check in at the "KERAMOS" rooms in Zaros, Municipality of Phaistos, Heraklion. Free time. Overnight stay.
(Possible guided tour of the Natural History Museum in Gergeri for those who wish - maybe on the 3rd day)

Sunday 2/3/25
Early morning wake up, we will have breakfast and board the bus to head via Gergeri to Mitato Forest Rouva (about 11 Km), to start the hike: *From Mitato Forest Rouva we will hike to the church of St. John in the forest (about 4.5 Km), then Church of St. John in the forest - Psakofarango - Holy Church of the Ascension (uphill) - Dyo Prinoi (about 2.5 Km), and then Rouva Gorge - Votomos- Zaros (about 6.5 Km).
Return to the same guesthouse in Zaros for rest.

Monday 3/3/25 (Clean Monday)
*Nybritos - Lake Zaros - Holy Monastery of St. Anthony of Vrontisio (approximately 6.5Km, 3 hours)
We wake up very early and after breakfast we set off immediately in order to have time, after the above hiking route, to attend the "Apokrygiomata" of Gergeri, which is a unique institution with roots in antiquity. It is one of the customs that represent mysteries and ceremonies that refer to the cycle of life, marriage, funeral but also history, as well as the cultural identity of the place, plowing, sowing (raki treat, moutzouromatoma, customs with the arkoudiarides (tragedy-shaped bell-bearers)! Traditional feast.
*Tour of the Museum of Local Natural History of Gergeri. (if this does not take place on the 1st day).
KOULOUMA in ZAROS, Return late in the evening to Chania.

Attention: - On the first day, the small backpack should be ready for hiking.
*Essential supplies for the mountain:
-Hat,-Waterproof windbreaker,-Warm clothes,-Cap and gloves,-Second pair of mountaineering boots,-Snack.
*The program is likely to be partially changed, under the responsibility of the activity leaders, depending on the prevailing weather conditions.
*Stops will be made along the road route, which will be determined by the activity leaders.
*Overnight stays will be at the Keramos guesthouse in double and triple rooms with breakfast.
*Smoking on the bus is not allowed.
*Participants must have team spirit, mountaineering behavior and exemplary cooperation with each other.
